Mining
There is no mint button. Your browser hashes keccak256(challenge, nonce) until the result is below the contract’s target. The challenge mixes your address, your personal counter and the last accepted proof, so a solution only works for you and only until someone else mints.
When a proof is found the page checks it again locally, reads the live price and asks your wallet to send mine() with the price attached. The wallet authorizes at most 6% over the quote; the contract refunds every unused wei. One specimen can be minted per block, worldwide.
GPU or CPU
WebGPU uses your graphics card and is usually hundreds of times faster. If your browser has no WebGPU, the miner runs on your processor cores instead. Both compare the full 256-bit hash against the exact on-chain target.
When a proof goes stale
Every mint changes the global challenge. If someone mints while your wallet is still asking you to confirm, your proof no longer matches and the miner simply starts on the new challenge. Confirming quickly helps.
Difficulty
| Specimens | Floor | Target pace |
|---|---|---|
| #1 – 1,000 (genesis) | 24 bits | one mint every ~10 s |
| #1,001 – 5,000 | 26 bits | one mint every ~15 s |
| #5,001 and up | 28 bits | one mint every ~15 s |
Every 8 mints the contract compares the real pace with the plan and adjusts the target by up to 2× either way, never below the phase floor and never above 40 bits. If nobody mints for 2 minutes the work halves every further 2 minutes, down to the floor, so the game can’t get stuck.
Rarity and flies
Stars are rolled a few blocks after the mint from a future block hash, so nobody can aim for them: 1★ 40%, 2★ 25%, 3★ 20%, 4★ 10%, 5★ 5%. Anyone can reveal, and every mine or meal reveals the latest ones automatically; the mining page also asks you right after your mint. If nobody reveals within ~240 blocks (about a minute), the specimen gets 1★: there is no second roll, so delaying a reveal can never pay. A specimen has as many flies as stars, and the stars decide which traits it can wear:
| Stars | Tier | What it gets |
|---|---|---|
| ★★★★★ | Legendary | 5 flies, a precious skin (24K Solid Gold, Sterling Silver or Diamond Crystal), smokes |
| ★★★★ | Epic | 4 flies, a gem skin (Ruby Gem or Cyber Neon), smokes |
| ★★★ | Rare | 3 flies, smokes: cigar, cigarette or pipe, each with its own mouth |
| ★★ | Uncommon | 2 flies, fancy eyes and mouths |
| ★ | Common | 1 fly, classic eyes and mouths |
Every trait is written into the token metadata on chain and never changes after the reveal, so OpenSea computes its own rarity rank from it. That rank follows the stars: we replay OpenSea's ranking method on a simulated 10,000-specimen collection before every release, and every 5★ lands above every 4★, and so on down.
Stars decide the share of meal rewards: 2★ ×1, 3★ ×2, 4★ ×4, 5★ ×5. 1★ earns from buybacks only.
Care and flush
Condition drops 1% every two hours, from 100% to 0% in a little over 8 days. Above 50% a specimen earns its full share; below that each buyback pays it 80%, 60%, 40%, then 20% (one step per 10% of health), and under 10% nothing. Each payout counts at the health it had at that moment, no matter when anyone settles. At 0% it is a petrified husk that earns nothing until fed.
A full heal costs 10% of the YSHET in that poop's vault (a 20% heal: 2%). An empty vault eats for free. Half of what you pay is burned for good, half is shared by 2★–5★ specimens.
Flushing burns the NFT and pays you 100% of its YSHET vault, including its own 15% Self-Lock. If that Self-Lock is still being bought, the flush buys it first; if the exchange cannot fill it right now, the flush simply waits. Your 15% never goes to anyone else. The slot opens for a new miner. If all 10,000 slots were taken, the flush also changes the mining task, so proofs prepared while the game was full stop working. Every token has its own exit animation and last words.
YSHET economics
- Mint ETH: 55% to the shared buyback, 15% buys YSHET for the new poop's own vault (Self-Lock), 30% to the Ladder dip-buy reserve, 0% to the team. If the Ladder cannot take its part, it joins the shared buyback.
- Self-Lock: bought inside the mint when the exchange allows it. If not, it waits in line, is served before the shared buyback, and is retried on every mint, meal and flush; every waiting poop gets the same average price.
- Buybacks: at most 0.04 ETH per run, 5 minutes apart, with slippage and price-impact guards. Bought YSHET is shared equally by every living specimen.
- Ladder: seven steps that only buy after a confirmed drop: −20% (35% of its budget), −35% (25%), −50% (20%), −60% (10%), −75/−90/−99% (10% together). 2% of what it buys is burned, 98% goes to living specimens. When the market goes quiet (no mint for 6 hours, or fewer than about one mint every two and a half hours) it slows to a quarter of its pace and keeps half of its reserve until players are really back; a lone mint now and then does not unlock it.
- Trading fees: An operator collects the Pons creator share and converts it to ETH before funding escrow. The ownerless forwarder sends available ETH to the game. Forwarding does not sweep unswept Pons fees; exchange buybacks and game buybacks are separate mechanisms.
- Mint price: 0.00002 ETH for #1, rising to 0.00016 at #1,000, then along a smooth curve to 0.0048 ETH at #10,000 (about $1.19 at #2,500, $3.84 at #5,000, $7.52 at #7,500, $12 at #10,000 with ETH at $2,500). It never goes back down. After genesis every mint adds 0.35% of hype, at most +60%; hype halves every 24 hours, every 12 hours once nobody has minted for 12 hours, and each flush takes 1 point off.
Nothing here promises profit, a floor or a payout. YSHET can go to zero.
How much does a poop earn?
There is no fixed rate: a poop earns its share of whatever the buybacks and meals bring in. The dashboard shows actual deposits into NFT funds over a timestamp-verified 24-hour window, and links to recent receipts. Deposits include common buybacks, individual Self-Lock purchases, the rarity half of meals and Ladder purchases after burning. Settling existing rewards is not new income. Fund total includes booked vaults and pending pools. Normalized rate estimates divide common and rarity deposits by today's population and rarity weights; they are not historical earnings of an individual NFT. Reserve capacity uses today's oracle price and up to 0.48 ETH of buying per hour, before execution costs. Check My pen for your accrued vault; health determines new earnings.
2★–5★ poops also get their slice of every meal (×1, ×2, ×4, ×5). Nobody can promise any of it, and both numbers move with price and traffic.
Who controls what
- Test mode first. A fresh contract starts in test mode: game time runs 60× faster so a whole hunger cycle can be checked in hours, and the deployer can still fix settings. A yellow ribbon on every page says so.
- Launch is one-way.
launch()puts the clock back to real time forever and hands the game, the Ladder and the buyback adapter to the timelock. Mainnet uses at least 7 days; this testnet uses 300 seconds. Test mode can never come back, and on mainnet the delay can never be lowered below 7 days. - No sneaky early mints. On mainnet, nobody but the deployer can mine before launch, and launch only works on a game with zero mints. A test copy can be played with, but it can never become the real collection.
- Contract limits: there is no owner withdrawal of mint ETH or vault YSHET, and no owner shortcut around proof of work, payment or the star odds. The owner can replace the DEX router, Ladder, renderer and fee forwarder. A bad replacement route can harm future purchases, so these changes require the public timelock after launch: at least 7 days on mainnet, 300 seconds on this testnet.
The living viewer
The 3D specimen on OpenSea and on this site borrows its nerves from a real fruit fly: 12,000 neurons and 1.4 million connections, cut from a complete fly nervous system and wired exactly as the microscope found them. A cursor drifting past lights up the fly's target detectors and the eyes follow; a fast swipe hits its looming detectors, and its escape neurons make the poop flinch. Its steering and head neurons decide where the eyes wander and when it blinks. No AI, no training: just fly wiring, running live in your browser.
On top sits a character with moods that talks in a speech bubble and reacts to clicks. Its flies have pseudo-brains: they orbit, nap, gossip and occasionally heckle you. Grab one and throw it if you must.
Fly wiring: Janelia MaleCNS v1.0 connectome (CC BY 4.0), browser export by fly.ai (MIT). Slow device? The fly brain steps aside and the poop runs on its small backup brain.
The corner badge shows health and the YSHET in the vault, read live from the chain.
Contracts
Addresses appear here after deployment on Robinhood Chain.
After launch, configuration changes go through a timelock (7 days on mainnet). There is no pause button. Everything is verified on the explorer.
Questions
Can I flush from OpenSea?
No. OpenSea shows the 3D viewer in a sandbox without wallet access, which is the right call for safety. Use My pen here.
Can a smart-contract wallet mine?
No. Mining requires a regular wallet account (EOA). Holding, feeding and flushing work from any wallet.
Is there a team allocation?
No premint, no team share of mint ETH, no allowlist.
